For me, as an extremely non-techie senior, this was a quick, easy out-of-the-box set-up and fast boot up. This HP ProDesk 600 was purchased to replace a slowly dying HDMI tower. I play a lot of casual games, watch movies, tv shows and YouTube, plus cruise around the internet. I really appreciate the responsiveness of the HP. I cannot testify to the hardcore gaming that my sons do, but this HP performs well for my tame casual games. Despite being a refurbished unit, it looks brand new. It came well packed with sturdy styrofoam buffers and a card with the contact information and work hours of the seller. Also included are a keyboard and wired mouse. (The wired mouse is actually performing better than the wireless one I have.) There is only one tiny complaint I have and that is the disc drive is somewhat sticky. But, hey, that's livable, right? It is such a great price. I feel I really struck it big time! I have an ancient HP Compaq that's still kicking despite being painfully slow (also a refurbish purchase) and hope that this ProDesk will be just as lasting. I am beyond pleased!
BUY NOWWow wow wow
This is the best computer I ever bought for myself as a business professional style and it is power enough to do all you want for business and some games, of course it is not the powerful than any other, but it does do a lot. Tested many things on it. 8gbs of ram, i5 4570 processor and win10 pro 64, highly recommend and great price definitely only down fall is the keyboard is cheap made and light but it's good to go for sure. Mouse is nice to hold and move. It came package very well with the fragile sticker on it and ups driver was very careful handing to me. I really love HP and this lineup.
Fantastic machine for the money and quite expandable if need be (won't be for most)
Fantastic machine for the money (and I have bought/built a lot of machines). Likely all the computer anyone needs. Pretty much looks new with just a few minor marks on the case. Very clean also. Worked like a charm right off. Got windows to activate (note, the key is on the top of the case but is covered by a grey sticker. Be extremely careful rubbing off the sticker to see the characters of the key underneath. I rubbed off too much and I couldn't read a couple of characters exactly but was able to guess them after a couple of tries.) The other nice thing is that the 8G of memory is made up of two 4G Kingston sticks, not four 2G sticks like some do. This means it is easy to upgrade (not remotely necessary unless you are running a lot of apps, etc.) to 16G just by adding two matching 4G sticks which are readily available. It is also easy to add a second hard drive since there is a slot for it and needed cables. I cloned the 500G drive (which looked new and decent quality) to a 240G SSD and then used the 500G drive as a second drive. (note, cloning to a smaller systems disc is a little tricky. You need software that can do this. I used AOMEI) I am driving two HD 27" monitors out of the display ports and it works fine (you can easily run three monitors if you want).
arrived so nearly as advertised
usb3 ports were not recognized before some tinkering. other than that, exactly what I hoped for. performs great. wiring is not a nest of ugly, although management could be improved but that's an OCD type thing, and does not affect performance. all slots function, windows is verified, accepted additional ram cards, currently running 16GB ram with no issues and no worries. Case was in acceptable condition with no blaring flaws. and the keyboard and mouse it came with... holy crap! AWESOME! If I didnt have fancy gaming peripherals with flashy lights Id be happily rocking the included kit. very nice!
INCREDIBLE TECH SUPPORT!
TECH VENTURE exceeded expectations! My computer came without a power cord, so I emailed tech support, AFTER HOURS, but they still responded immediately by shipping a power cord Priority Overnight via FedEx, arrived by 9am the next day. I also thought this came with a wifi adapter. I called tech support, they offered to reimburse me for a wifi adapter that I purchased from Office Depot. 5-stars! Everything works/looks great - no complaints!
Unit Worked
Arrived ahead of schedule. All worked well except for the DVD drive. Contacted EPC and they sent a replacement out immediately for me to install. Installation was very simple. Less than three minutes. Replacement drive worked just fine. Tech support was very responsive to my email request for assistance. Unit is very quite and working just fine so far. Because it was a refurbished model, I did take the three year insurance for $21. I normally don't do that, but in this case of being refurbished, I did. I'm not a gamer so I can't comment on it's ability to game properly.
Great system
My old gaming laptop (retired from gaming and turned into an entertainment unit for my flat screen tv) woung up with a HDMI port glitch. Tried everything I could to get it to keep working, then found up a LOT of people had same problem, but most of them started having the problem 5 years ago and no one could fix it because it's the chipset. SO, I got this unit as it had everything I needed, even a DVD player for some of the old DVD's I still have laying around. Been using it for a few weeks, maybe a month, with no problems. Sound is better than the gaming laptop and have no idea why! Same exact surround system but the sound is just a LOT better and no distortion in bass (not one setting has been changed in surround system and still using same streaming service and VLC to watch already owned movies). [This was bought after picking it out for a friend who needed a business / utility system. He bought it, then as I looked more, I bought one, too. Both happy with it] If you purchase it for what I use it for, you'll need a Display Port to HDMI adapter cable - also available here on Amazon in varied lengths.
Its a good system, great value
I am a computer design engineer of 40 years, and worked for Dell, IBM and others. This system is very well made. The refurb is well executed, with a clean new release windows install (no bloatware either) and includes a recovery partition. The CPU has more than enough power to run my app, which is Blue Iris security software which continuously records 6 cameras. App reports it is running at 20% CPU. Adequately packaged, includes a short power cable, and an el-cheapo keyboard and mouse in case you don't have one already. Barely a mark on my system, and totally free of dust etc. Runs pretty quiet too. A custom and complex mechanical and cable arrangement for disk drives, I need to spend some time to figure out how to add additional drives. My unit sold by SKYTECH USA LLC.
HP unit is great, vendor QC not so much, great customer service
DeskPro unit ran fine until testing the DVD and found it wasn't recognized by Windows. Since this is a refurbished unit, this is a reflection on the vendor's quality control, StallionTek, not the HP unit. Since then, the vendor has gone out of their way to rectify this and I now have a fully operational replacement. Bottom line: A great unit, a hiccup with QC, compensated by superb customer service: 4 1/2 stars, call it 5.
